[ He was tricked! ]

[ He snorts a little at Phainon's outrage. ]

Turns out you're just too much of a good boy, I suppose.

[ And then, nonsensically: ]

Pickled fish eggs.

[cyclus]

[ Don't good boy him... ]

[ And, yet, he walks over, to peer. ]

Is that what you want for dinner?

[ Without missing a beat: ]

Live octopus.

[cyclus]

... How would you eat it, if it were alive?

[ Are you okay, Mydei. ]

[strifeborne]

[ He taps something on the screen. ]

Salted crickets.

[ He does it again, squinting at something, then adds: ]

Fermented shark meat.

[cyclus]

Mydeimos, are you making the worst shopping list to ever exist?

[ Stepping over, he leans into him, peering over his shoulder with a frown. ]

I'm not sure we'd be able to make most of these taste good.

[ He debates the merits of calling Phainon out on not actually saying no, but he gives him this small win and nods, deleting the list. ]

Live octopus is surprisingly good, though, for the record.

[cyclus]

[ Mydeimos gives Phainon a Look but doesn't elaborate. He'll get there in the end. (Maybe). ]

I simply don't want to see you suffering for the sake of your partner. It's not good for you, and it'd make me - It'd make them upset.

[cyclus]

Mm. I understand the sentiment.

[ An arm wraps around Mydei's waist, absently. ]

But if I enjoy their enjoyment, is it not for my sake, also?

That can be a worthwhile pursuit, yes. But if you are truly hurting and and push past it without consideration for yourself, I can't imagine anyone would be happy about it.

[ He lets his hand fall to the arm, fingers resting on his wrist. Phainon has been doing this more of late, and Mydeimos wonders at it but (ironically) never tells him to stop. ]

[cyclus]

A little discomfort will not do me real harm. If it was truly that awful, then that is where a safe word would be used, hm?

[ Phainon is not going to bring it up either, cautiously avoiding any kind of real discussion. ]

[ They're in this Not Talking About It hot tub together.

Mydeimos looks at Phainon for a moment, the only sign he's picking his words carefully. ]

You realize that trust needs to go both ways? Your partner needs to trust you'll use it. If you have a history of pushing yourself far past your limits, they might doubt that you would.

[cyclus]

They can trust me! I am not so foolish that I would do something I really hated.

[ Discomfort is not the same as hate; Phainon knows hate all too well. ]

[ He's giving him a lookbut finally relents about it, because Phainon deserves this trust, after everything. ]

I still think you should practice saying 'no' more.

[ Phainon sighs, turning to press his face into Mydei's neck.

[ He reaches up to tug on his hair a little but doesn't actually pull him away from his neck. ]

[ He scowls, squeezing his arms tighter. ]
